| This itinerary covers a variety of wonderful
medieval cities. Enjoy a brief panoramic tour through
northern Rome. The first stop will be Orvieto, a wonderful
medieval city famous for its Cathedral. Continue through
Umbria, rich in vineyards, olive groves and hilltop villages.
Proceed via Spoleto (also known for the Festival of the
Two Worlds), Trevi, Foligno, Spello to Assisi, the mystic
walled city of St. Francis located on Mt. Subasio. Everything
about Assisi will enchant you – the myriad of colors,
its red stone houses, the winding streets, the palaces,
and flowered balconies. Stop for an optional lunch in
a typical Italian restaurant. The visit in Assisi includes
– the church of Saint Mary of the Angels and the
Basilica of Saint Francis, with masterful works of Giotto
and Cimabue. Return to Rome. |
