This Tour takes you to an ancient section of Trastevere, considered by many to be the most typical of Rome in ages past. Here life in Romereveals itself in the history of this neighborhood considered popular and in some ways infamous for being the “Bohemian” section of Rome, losing some of its ancient intrigue consisting of popular festivals, restaurants, shelters for the poor, and a strong sense of being “Trasteverini” among its inhabitants. But the tour wishes above all to bring you closer to the religious and folk spirit of this part of the city, which from the very first moments gave testimony of its faith in Jesus Christ. Beginning with Trilussa Square, we will visit the Basilica of St. Mary in Trastevere, the cloisters of the monastery of St. Cosimato, now enclosed by a modern hospital, the church of St. Peter in Montorio with the famous Little Temple of Bramante. Passing by we will see medieval houses, squares, famous little Madonnas affixed to walls primarily at intersections, large fountains, and water fountains, a lively market, and lastly, from the Gianicolo, one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Eternal City!
